As part of the HVAC commissioning process for the Building we conducted fresh air balancing for Fan Coil Units (FCUs) to ensure optimal system performance.
Key Engineering Steps Performed:
1 Airflow Measurements – Using a Pitot Tube Anemometer, we conducted duct traversing to obtain accurate velocity pressure readings, which were then converted to airflow rates (CFM) using the Bernoulli equation.
2 Damper Calibration – Volume Control Dampers (VCDs) were systematically adjusted based on measured airflow values to ensure each FCU receives the design-specified air volume per ASHRAE standards.
3 System Optimization– By balancing supply and return airflows, we ensured:
Proper fresh air ventilation rates (ASHRAE 62.1 compliance)
- Uniform temperature distribution
- Reduced fan energy consumption
