Why Don’t birds get shocked on power lines?

It’s because they usually only touch one wire, so the current has nowhere to flow to.

Occasionally, a larger bird does get zapped because it tries to peck a neighbouring wire, but the wires on a power pole are deliberately spaced to prevent that as much as possible because it can damage the pole, the wires or the fuses if it happens.
